Our Philosophy
Along with the same company name is the same company philosophy: delivering quality produce at a fair price, along with exceptional service. To accomplish this we have chosen to remain a small company. We are able to keep an eye on quality and can service our customers where and when they need us. When you call you are most likely talking with an owner. We had our chances to “sell out” to larger companies and let Kousouris Bros. become just another “big box” warehouse store. But we didn’t want our customers to become just a number.
Our Story
In 1929, Jack Marmaras began to deliver produce to restaurants in Baltimore. His Greek heritage gave him a leg up on the competition because most of the clients were Greek immigrants. The produce business was a family affair where his wife, Helen Kousouris-Marmaras, and many nieces and nephews were often chosen to lend a hand. Brothers Lou and Pete Kousouris partnered with Jack to form the company Marmaras & Kousouris. After Jack retired in 1962, the company became Kousouris Bros. Produce, the name that remains today even after the passing of Lou and Pete.
